A Proud Heritage...

Our Rich History...

Back in the 1930s, a small group of Lansing firemen out of Fire Station Number 2 had the idea that a credit union would better serve the municipal employees financial needs - firefighters, police officers, Lansing Board of Water & Light and City of Lansing Employees saw their vision become a reality with the formation and charter of the Municipal Employees Credit Union in 1936. That humble beginning grew over the years when many employer groups joined the credit union movement and we became Lansing Community Credit Union.

As we continued to grow and expand our membership base and provide services to people living in an increasing number of counties, in 2002, we changed our name to Capital Community Credit Union.

In 2004, we had the opportunity to expand our reach to serve members across the western side of Michigan and merged with LSI Credit Union - a large Grand Rapids credit union originally formed to serve Lear Siegler, now known as GE Avionics. Our name became Capital Community Credit Union/LSI Financial, and as a result of this credit union partnership, we are now able to serve anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Allegan, Barry, Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon or Ottawa counties.

Growth continued when in 2005 and 2006, Citizens Choice, Spartan Stores, Allied Builders & Contractors credit unions all joined Capital Community Credit Union/LSI Financial.

Because sometimes less is more, on January 2, 2008, we shortened our legal name to CapCom Credit Union. We are now 10 counties strong, with over 130 employees dedicated to be the best of the best and make every member feel valued. Our Mission statement says it best...
